What was your first impression of each other when you met?

Barbara – When he and his friends came to visit, I told all my friends, ‘hands off, he is mine’.

Neville – I was just pleased that someone was paying attention to me.

What did you like about each other?

Barbara – I liked him for who he was. He is a person with high ethics and is very supportive.

Neville – We were very good looking and slim in those days. She is a very caring person and we have similar interests. We were in the same industry, she was a nurse and I worked at a pharmacy. We use to play lot of tennis and loved travelling.

What has kept you together for all these years?

Barbara – Neville is a very caring person and he is my backbone and strength though the trials and tribulations. He has always supported my interests and took care of the children while I was away.

Neville – We always have good laughs, we seldom argue and it only for a few minutes and we never go to bed angry.

Any advice to young married couples?

Barbara – Compromise, love, share and communicate.

Neville – Share the same interests, spend as much time as you can together and do not hold grudges.
