Stolen clothes swiftly recovered in Malvern

The man was charged with being in possession of stolen property and dagga.

A MAN was arrested in Malvern after he was found with a bundle of clothing, shoes and dagga on Monday, 22 May.

Malvern SAPS officers Cst Lavern Gounden and Cst Nelson Moodley stopped the man when they were patrolling the area.

According to Malvern SAPS corporate communication officer, W/O Radhika Marimuthu, the man showed the officers the property from where he had stolen the clothing items and the owner positively identified the stolen items.

“The suspect has been charged with being in possession of stolen property and dagga,” she said.

“If there are elderly people at home or domestic workers, please caution them against letting strangers onto the property,” she said.

The community is cautioned to keep valuable possessions out of sight of by-passers.

Open garage doors, facing the road are factors that tempt criminals and gives them an opportunity to break-in and steal. These opportunistic crimes also can escalate to more serious ones,” added W/O Marimuthu.
