Two ‘blanket run’ riders injured in motorbike crash

The couple were on their way back to Pietermaritzburg after completing a blanket run.

TWO motorbike riders, a man (38) and a woman (28), sustained moderate injuries when their motorbike crashed on the M7 towards Pinetown near Hans Dettman Highway off ramp in Queensburgh, on Sunday.

According to ER24 communications manager, Werner Vermaak, shortly before 12pm, paramedics from ER24 arrived on the scene where they found the couple sitting on the side of the road.

“It is understood that the rider apparently lost control when a vehicle swerved in front of him. Paramedics treated them for moderate injuries before transporting both to RK Khan Hospital,” said Vermaak.

The couple indicated to paramedics that they were on their way back to Pietermaritzburg after completing a blanket run.

According to the couple, they form part of a group of riders that collect blankets for the winter and drop it off at a collection point.
