Three killed in weekend accidents in Hillcrest
One of the victims was a mother of two young girls.
A WOMAN was killed and her husband and children were seriously injured when their vehicle veered off the roadway and collided with tree stumps on Sunday night, in Hillcrest.
Netcare paramedics responded to a collision along the M13 east bound just after Kassier Road around 9.14pm.

Chris Botha, media liaison officer at Netcare 911, said reports from the scene indicated that a mother, father, and two children were travelling along the M13, when their vehicle veered off the roadway and collided with tree stumps.
“Paramedics and the Netcare rescue unit arrived at the scene and found a baby girl aged six ejected from the wreckage and pinned under the vehicle with serious injuries.”
“The mother was ejected and tragically died at the scene. The father and a girl aged around 10 were still trapped in the wreckage of the car in a serious condition,” said Botha.
Medics treated the three seriously injured people before transporting them to a local hospital. The exact details to the cause of the crash and preceding events is still speculative and will form part of the police investigation.

Two other people were killed in a second accident, a head on collision, on Inanda Road near Hillcrest on Saturday evening.
Werner Vermaak, corporate communications manager at ER24, said paramedics arrived at the scene at 6pm and found two men with fatal injuries in one of the vehicles and two occupants from the other vehicle sustained moderate injuries.
“They were treated by another service on scene and later transported to a nearby hospital. The exact circumstances surrounding the collision is not yet known. Local authorities will investigate,” said Vermaak.
