MARIANNHILL police are investigating a case of murder after a taxi driver (23) was shot and killed while driving on Milky Way Road in Mariannhill, yesterday, around 7pm.

According to Captain Nqobile Gwala, media spokesperson for KZN SAPS, it is alleged that two men were in a taxi which was driven by the deceased to Dassenhoek.
“They allegedly shot him in the head and he was declared dead at the scene. The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage. The police are searching for the suspects,” said Gwala.
Garrith Jamieson of Rescue Care said paramedics attended the scene last night however they found the deceased driver and no other passengers in the vehicle at the time.

It is believed the taxi driver veered off the road and crashed his vehicle into a home on Milky Way Road.
