Diligent learners bag scholarships

Two Grade 2 learners from the iThemba Campus were given scholarships to attend Waterfall Preparatory School until the end of 2017.

TWO deserving learners have been awarded Focus on iThemba Scholarships and will attend Waterfall Preparatory School.

Lungelo Zondi and Noluthando Mgenge were welcomed into the Grade 2 class at the school for the balance of 2017.

The iThemba Campus is the home of Waterfall Pre-Primary, Waterfall Preparatory and Waterfall College.

With the three schools occupying the state-of-the-art Focus on iThemba classrooms and buildings, it will result in sustainable funding for this forward-thinking NPO into its future years.

“The iThemba Scholarship Programme enables previously disadvantaged children from the surrounding community to attend Waterfall Schools from Grade 1 to Grade 12,” said Gavin Kruger, of the Focus on iThemba team.

Gavin also spoke about the future of the scholarship programme and how it would benefit children from the surrounding community in years to come.

“Other than these two children, it is expected that another six learners from the iThemba Academy will be joining them next year.”

Lungelo and Noluthando were both learners at the iThemba Academy since their Grade R year in 2015 and live in the Embo Community and both have demonstrated continuous excellence in their academic ability.

Sue Sage, principal at the iThemba Academy said, “The progress of these two learners can be attributed to their thirst for knowledge and excellent work ethic.”

“This opportunity is incredibly special and Waterfall Preparatory is excited to have such hard-working future leaders as part of their school.”

Caitlyn Stevens, HOD of Waterfall Preparatory School, said, “We are very humbled and excited to have Lungelo and Noluthando join the Waterfall Preparatory family and we are dedicated to supporting both them and their families throughout their new journey with us.”
