“My aunt raised me as her own” – Tracey Mgoduka
Tracey Mgoduka said her aunt, Barbara Mgoduka, who earns a domestic worker's salary has sacrificed everything for her well-being.

After receiving a ton of entries, three amazing women were chosen to be featured as Supermoms ahead of Mother’s Day.
Tracey Mgoduka of Clermont chose her aunt, Barbara Mgoduka as her ‘supermom’.
Tracey was six years old when her mother, Martha Mgoduka died of pneumonia. Her aunt, Barbara, immediately took her in and has never left her side since.
In her submission, Tracey wrote: “My aunt is special because she has raised me as her own child since my mom passed away. She is a single parent and a domestic worker but makes sure I have everything I need.”
Tracey who studied public relations at Durban’s University of Technology and works as an admin clerk said her aunt who earns a domestic worker’s salary has sacrificed everything for her well-being. Barbara had a son who died when he was 23 in 2003. Tracey is now her only child.
“My aunt has always put my future first. She sent me to the best of schools and university on her minimum wage and even after I graduated and found my feet when I began to work, I still lean on my ‘mum’ for support,” said Tracey.
Her aunt, Barbara, said: “I feel honoured and am very proud of my daughter. She has made my Mother’s Day celebrations really special this year.”
