Happy Mother’s Day to Highway’s Supermoms

The Highway Mail Mother’s Day Supermom nominations were all so heart-warming and inspirational that we had to share them with our readers.

THE Highway Mail recently challenged our community to nominate their mum’s or a mother they knew whom deserved the tittle of Supermom.

From the dozens of entries we selected our top supermoms to feature in the paper, however, the Highway Mail team believes that every mom is a supermom and so we have decided to feature all our nominated mum on the website.

Here are all the Supermom entries.

Nirupa Harribarran

Mummy is our pillar of strength, she is kind, caring and loving to us all. Her culinary tricks are what keeps her family together. Mum makes the best mutton curry in the universe. Mummy knows exactly how to keep her cool in a crisis and she always has an answer to all of the problems and awkward situations. We are so blessed to have our super Mom in this lifetime.

Demi de Lange

My mom is special because she does so much for me and she is always there for me. My mom always pushes me to do my best. My mom always brings me comfort even in the oddest situations. I have let her down so many times but she never stops telling me that she loves me. My mom means faith to me and she has unlimited faith in my brothers and I and I couldn’t ask for a better mom. My mom isn’t just the best mom ever, but she is my best friend.

Christos Vassiliadis

My mom is special because she is a strong, loving and caring woman she never gives up and is always looking out for us three children. She will give her everything and her last to make sure we have what we need to get by. It doesn’t worry her in the least that she will go without, even after she has saved for the thing she wants. She always holds her head up high and is very proud of us, even though we haven’t really done much, she is proud of her three children.

Akira Harribarran

My mum is special because she has always been selfless! She has always been there for me whenever I needed her. She is my guiding force through any uncertainty in life. Her straight forward nature and no nonsense demeanor makes her a unique force to be reckoned with. But once she comes to care for you, her loyalty is unbreakable!

Leeandra Moses

My mum is special because no matter how busy or tired mum is she always does her best to make sure that our meals are prepared with delicious bakes – yummy cupcakes and cakes.

Ettien Meyer

My wife is really special person in my life and I know in our little boys’ lives too!! I have seen her work on no sleep. I’ve slept through the night thinking our little boy did also, only to find out she was up most of the night. I still have never heard her complain about the lack of sleep, ever. Making her own food for us, taking care of the household, shopping, cooking dinner, and still having time and energy to make sure that our marriage was going strong. I see the way that our child looks at her. I hope that he grows up and fully appreciates how he got to experience having the best mom ever.
I know that there are days when her energy is low, and our child does not want to listen, or I’m acting selfish, and she just does not feel as appreciated as she should be. She is the glue that holds our house together and keeps it running smoothly. She is the expert of all experts on mommy hood and I hope she always knows how blessed we are to have her as our Queen.

Wendy Esbach

My mom Lynne Barker is special because she has been through a lot in her life and still has time to care about her family. She is kind hearted and so caring always thinking about others. She is a pensioner now and she loves sewing this would really make her Mothers Day.

Carey-Anne Kerby

When love and laughter is all you need to get through the very long hard day then you know you are a super mom!! My Mom Rocks, because she always puts others before herself, and is always laughing. My Mom did her best to make our lives fun and full of love and kindness, a smile a hug and loads of love!!

Tracy Mgoduka

My aunt is special because she has raised me as her own child since my mom passed and she is a single parent and a domestic worker but makes sure I have everything I need.

Michaela Hudson

Well my name is Michaela Hudson, and the reason my Mom should be elected is because my mom is a single parent and she always hustled on her own to make a way for me. She made it possible for me to go to a private school and to get a better education. She has sacrificed a lot for me and herself. Seeing my mother cry over the years, because my father wasn’t involved in my life was really hard. There were basketball tournaments I had to go on by myself that was 7-8 hours away, because she couldn’t go. My mom means the world to me, I want to have the same hustle as her, she really is my role model, and it’s really hard because it’s just been me and her together for 17 years and we about to depart, because of college. I’ve been traveling playing basketball for 11 years and each year my mom had to pay over R850 for registration fee, and I take basketball very seriously, and I always told my mother, that I’m going to college off a basketball scholarship. My mother and I have invested so much for me for basketball so I have no choice but to hustle and make my mother proud. I recently signed to a four year liberal private school in North Georgia and I got a full scholarship for basketball. My mother doesn’t have to help me take out loans for school or anything, now she can just chill from tuition and she can actually spend her check on herslef, and get things that she wants. I really appreciate my mother, and with me being a high school athlete, I didn’t have time to get a job, because I was grinding, so I can make it in basketball and she understood that. I wish I could give her the world. I always buy her little things she likes when I get money. I really think my mother deserves this, because she always thinks people don’t appreciate her and she need a break from things , and I want her to know I wrote an unedited essay about her. I really want her to be happy and to know that I took time out of my day to think about her. Plus this year I won’t be there for Mother’s Day, because I will be on my high school senior trip. So winning this for her would mean the world to me. As long as she is happy, I am happy. Thank you Highway Mail for even opening this opportunity for people to do for their moms, because it’s so many people that don’t value their mother like they should. Thank you so much for taking your time for reading this.

Warabile Macinga

She has been through a lot ensuring that her family doesn’t sleep on empty tummies, putting us, her children, first and herself always last, her sacrifice was immeasurable.

Chantel Engelbrecht

My mom is very special. Every day is a gift, and God gave my mom a second chance to live her life to the fullest. She was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago, had a mastectomy, and is free from cancer. She is special, because she is a brave and strong person. I love my mom with all my heart!!!

Nirasha

My mum went through a lot in her life. She was physically and verbally abused in her marriage, in front of us. She used to do domestic work. Wit the money she earned she made sure we had food to eat and we were educated. She’s 62 years old and still going strong. She deserves everything of the best. She’s has a heart of gold.

Simoné Mayhew

My mom is such an inspiration to me that I had to follow in her footsteps of becoming a nursing sister. She was a young single mother that brought us two girls up and made us strong independent women. She has always looked after us so well and gone above and beyond for her girls. We love her so much and would appreciate this stunning gift to give her on Mother’s Day as she loves to make her own outfits and loves to see.

Christine Barnard

I’m glad she’s mine. I don’t know where I’d be without her and if I’d be as strong and courageous without her. Yes you guessed it, she is my MOM!!

At 42 years of age I still look to my mom for advice, comfort and guidance. I have renal failure, retinopathy and other serious health problems and when I have my bad days and my illness takes over, my mom is there in a flash to make a meal, run the kids around, hang my washing, or help with trips to hospitals and doctors. I still feel the most amazing comfort at my age from my mom when I’m ill. She is the most selfless person I know, she never complains and no matter what she is doing she drops everything to lend a hand. She is an exemplary grandmother of three grandchildren, an amazing mother of two daughters and a loving wife to my dad. My mom was like a mother to my children whilst growing up. My mom has worked hard all her life and given selflessly of herself to her family’s needs. We always came first and she always came second and nothing has changed!!!

I hope The Highway Mail publishes this letter so that she can see what a special person she is and that I am forever indebted to her for all her kindness and caring ways through my health battles. I don’t say it enough mom but I don’t take you for granted, and I appreciate you from the bottom of my heart, you are part of what makes me carry on and be strong and I am simply glad you are MY mom. I LOVE YOU today and always, HAPPY MOTHERS DAY.

Irmarie Boardman

My mom is a strong woman. She has been through a lot in life. She is my best friend and always supports everything I do. She is loving, caring, funny, brave, smart, strong, good-hearted, hardworking, and understanding. I don’t know what I will ever do without her. I am so, so blessed to have her in my life .

Yonela Nombaba

She is actually my aunt. She works in in the Department of water and forestry. She works 7.30a. to 4.30pm and after that she takes her son to church for the seminary in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. With all that she still smiles at home and we are able to have food to eat. How she does that I don’t know. I think my aunt/mother is a possible super woman because of what she does.

Colleen Tetief

She always puts her children first.

Jane Tennet

My mum just goes the extra mile all the time!

Trisha Ramroop

Firstly, my mum cooks the best mint briyani ever… My mother has four children. We all are married, yet she is still always there for us. Whenever we need her she is there. She always thinks of everyone but herself. She is the one that holds our family together. We all have our own busy lives so we have no time to visit each other, so my mother plans get togethers and family trips just to keep us close. When my siblings and I fight my mother makes sure that we make up and start talking again. Besides being the best mum she is an amazing grandmother to all her grandchildren. Even if my mum does not get this supermom award… She will always be my supermom.

Zodwa Makhado

My wife, Zodwa is Highways Supermom. Not because of her looks but she is a hard worker and very stubborn. She doesn’t let go until she gets what she wants. Last year October she lost her job but decided to start her shop, selling health beauty shop products. Now she is juggling between the running the shop, never missing gym classes every morning, maintaining her strict diet, running the house and kids, researching new products online, advertising her existing products on facebook, contacting different products suppliers and ensuring shop is fully stocked at all times, and attending business seminars and updating clients on new products.

Oh and making sure we go to church every Sunday – looking clean and nice.
Now that’s a supermom!!!

Gail Byng

She is always doing things for us and others. Support is the biggest pleasure in her life and that’s what we got with love.

Robyn Biddle

I nominate my sister, Kirsty Springett as a Supermom. Her husband is away for four to six weeks at a time, so she is a single parent to her two girls and she gives so much of herself to them. I believe she should be spoilt.

Dennis Clegg

My wife Tracey has gone through a lot in life, growing even now. It’s hard for her. I know it is and she won’t complain. She always has a smile on her face, no matter what. I am disabled so I can’t carry the kids and do what I want to, so the kids rely more on my wife. Even though she’s fine I still can’t help but feel bad about it. She is my rock. I really hope she can win this prize as I can’t spoil her like I want to as we can’t afford it, and she is fine with it.

This would be an awesome anniversary gift for the 12th June and a mother’s day gift.
I love my wife so much.

Bernie White

My Mom pretty much raised three children on her own. She has gone through the mill more times than I can remember. However, her unending love and patience for us and her grandchildren is exemplary. No matter how hurt or tired she is, she is always the meditator and peace keeper. Sometimes, no, always neglecting her own needs. She is nothing short of amazing! We would be nowhere without her today and we are truly blessed to still have this awesome lady in our lives.

Ntombikayise Ngcobo

Her husband passed on March 1992. His son also passed on April 1992. She never gave up in life. She worked hard for me and my sister to get educated. She was working at a laundry department. But today my sister is a teacher, I graduated with National diploma in Accounting. I am very proud of her. She is a strong woman.

Tamryn Nicol

My mom completely understands me, and knows when something is wrong with just one look. She’s had a few health problems recently but still managed to remain amazingly positive and happy throughout it all. She’s an inspiration to all those who have the privilege of knowing her and I can’t express the respect I have for her. The strength and resilience I see in my mom’s face is then only motivation I need to live up to my full potential.
