Pinetown’s Hunter Tilling moved to rehab centre

Hunter took about two days to settle into her new 'home' at Sub Acute Rehabilitation Center in Hillcrest.

PINETOWN’S Hunter Tilling has been moved to a new rehabilitation centre in Hillcrest and is believed to be making some progress.

Close family friend, Bridget Studzinski, said that Hunter’s parents unfortunately haven’t spoken to the surgeon as he is on holiday.

“We are all frustrated as we need details on her condition. She will be taken to Hillcrest Private Hospital sometime this week for an MRI. I have suggested to her parents to get a second opinion from another surgeon while she is there,” said Studzinski.

She added it took Hunter about two days to settle into her new ‘home’ at Sub Acute Rehabilitation Centre in Hillcrest and now that she is rested, she is more ‘awake’.

“The physios are with her daily and are happy with her progress but need information from the surgeon on whether or not they can move her more because of her back,” added Studzinski.

Hunter made some improvement last Monday night when she opened her eyes three times. Studzinski said Hunter had opened her eyes three times on Monday, 1 May but she was very dazed.

“Baby steps and still a very long road ahead,” added Studzinski.

Another message that was posted on the Help Hunter Tilling Facebook page read: “Hi we saw Hunter last night. She opened her eyes again. Good signs that [the] brain is healing. Her facial muscles are starting to function again. Another good sign according to those in the know is that she is keeping her mouth closed. She did also yawn again. Her feet were very cold so they wrapped them in towels. Her sedation is stopped. They were going to give her pain meds and put her back on the ventilator at 10pm so she does not get too tired. She is still beautiful.”
