Armed robbers target Pinetown business

An undisclosed amount of cash was taken and all CCTV camera wires were cut by the robbers.

AN armed robbery occurred at Fishaways in Pinetown as the manager opened the shop this morning.

He was approached by three suspects who entered from the closed, but unlocked front door.

According to Blue Security’s Andreas Mathios, two suspects were armed with 9mm pistols.

“The terrified manager was tied up to a chair and the suspects demanded the safe keys which was handed over to them.”

“An undisclosed amount of cash was taken and all CCTV camera wires were cut by the robbers,” he said.

Mathios said this indicated the suspects were prepared.

Luckily no one was injured, said Mathios, and the suspects left as quickly as they arrived.

The victim was able to free himself and call for help. Pinetown SAPS was in attendance.

Mathios advised the community to always be alert and pro active.

“Look out for suspicious loiterers or cars parked outside business premises when owners arrive for work or leave for home.”

“Never open or close business alone. You make yourself a easy, soft target,” he said.

A case of armed tobbery is being investigated.
