Six injured in Mariannhill accident

Paramedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured man with advanced life support interventions.

SIX people were injured yesterday, 28 April when a car rear-ended another vehicle on the N3 Highway at the Mariannhill Toll Plaza.

According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, they arrived on the scene and found both vehicles at the toll Plaza.

“Upon closer inspection, paramedics discovered one man lying trapped inside one of the vehicles. The man was found to be in a critical condition,” he said.

Meiring said, “In the second vehicle, paramedics found three adults and two children, a three-year- old girl and eight-year-old boy. All five patients had sustained minor injuries.”

“Rescue services had to use specialised rescue equipment to free the critically injured man from the vehicle. Once freed, paramedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured man with advanced life support interventions,” he said.

The patients were transported to Entabeni Hospital and the details surrounding the cause of the accident is unknown at this stage.
