Murder accused jockey resumes bail application

At his first bail application hearing, Gregorowski claimed that he suffers from a bipolar disorder and he stopped taking his medication which could have made him manic.

MURDER accused, Graham Gregorowski, has instructed a new team of attorneys to conduct his defense going forward.

The lead attorney on the matter, Charl Claassen of Francois Medalie and Company, said he has taken over the matter at a stage when Gregorowski’s bail application remains undecided as his bail application was abandoned by his previous attorneys.

Claassen added they will immediately be re-instating Gregorowski’s bail application at the next court hearing, at Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 26 April.

The former jockey, was set to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 16 November 2016, for the alleged murder of his partner, Janet Scott, but the bail application was abandoned.

He has spent nearly six months incarcerated.

Scott (54) died at Gregorowski’s home in Shongweni on Saturday, 22 October.

According to reports, Gregorowski told the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court that the two had an argument after he returned from a pub that night. He slapped her and she fell to the ground. He went into the bathroom to wash himself and on his return found Scott lying on the floor, motionless and bleeding from her nose.

Gregorowski was arrested and charged with murder.

He appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 8 November, for a formal bail application.

However, he claimed that he suffered from a bipolar disorder and stopped taking his medication which could have made him manic. He pleaded not guilty.

The bail application was adjourned to Wednesday, 16 November for Gregorowski’s initial lawyer to access more information regarding his client’s bipolar disorder diagnosis.

Gregorowski’s baill application has been set for Friday, 19 May.
