Donations and sponsors pour in for Vezamafa Primary soccer players

The Clermont learners are excited and ready to compete in their first soccer tournament in May.

THE Highway community rallied in support of Vezamafa Primary School in Clermont after it sent out a request for sports equipment.

Westville Senior Primary School was the first to answer the call and soon spearheaded a campaign to donate the much-needed goods.

With the support of the greater Westville football community, a large cache of second-hand sports equipment was received, including boots, balls and other sport and fitness related equipment.

The Kloof Round Table 190 heard that the school’s soccer enthusiasts were excited to play in a local tournament in May but could not afford to.

Kloof Round Table made a significant donation of R4 500 which will cover transport, tournament entry fees, meal costs and a new pair of boots for each player.

Matthew Helm, vice-chairman of Kloof Round Table attended the joyous handover ceremony.

Solly M Sports was eager to get involved and supplied each player with a full numbered playing kit and drawstring bag, to add to the experience.

“The doors that this opportunity opens for these previously disadvantaged boys is incredible,” said Ahmed Meer, an educator at the school.

To make an in-kind or cash donation to the school’s sporting football team, contact the Kloof Round Table 190 via e-mail at why2002@webmail.co.za or call its community services officer on 084 210 1801.
