Temporary deviation on Crompton/Qashana Khuzwayo Road intersection

The roadworks began last weekend, but was not complete due to unforeseen challenges with the road surface.

MOTORISTS are requested to use alternative routes during a temporary deviation at the Crompton/Qashana Khuzwayo (Shepstone) Road intersection in New Germany and Pinetown from 7am on Saturday until 5pm on Sunday.

This deviation is to accommodate the laying of a new water pipe across Crompton Road during this time. Work on this began last weekend, but was not able to be completed due to unforeseen challenges with the road surface, and therefore will be done this weekend (April 8 and 9).

RELATEDURGENT NOTICE: Qashana Khuzwayo Road closed for three months

Motorists will have access to Crompton Road from Qashana Khuzwayo, but the roadway will be reduced from four lanes to two. One-half of Crompton Road will be closed and traffic will be moved onto the other half (as shown in the diagram 1).

Once the work has been completed on the first half, traffic will be moved onto the previously closed area until the whole job is complete (shown as part 2).

Motorists can also access Qashana Khuzwayo via Cherry Lane.

Motorists are requested to use the alternative routes on the affected days to avoid delays.
