Police appeal for peaceful marches tomorrow
It's every South African's democratic right to participate in a protest march.
THE DA has been inundated with calls from residents wanting to join a March for Change.
“Over the last few days, we have been inundated with requests from the public who wish to support the national outcry over the Zuma Presidency,” said DA KZN Chairperson, Haniff Hoosen. MP.
“The DA’s March for Change in Johannesburg, Friday, 7 April, has sparked a huge interest in KZN and hundreds of telephone calls have been received at our offices from residents who want to be involved.
“This overwhelming response has inspired us to host our own March for Change in Durban, which will begin at 9am on Friday, 7 April from the Circus Site, opposite the Old Durban Drive Inn.
“The march will proceed along the beachfront promenade and end at the amphitheatre on the beachfront. Leaders of various political parties, faith-based organisation and civil leaders will be leading the march in calling for change in SA.
“Our Constitution states that South Africa belongs to all who live in it, united in our diversity. Not to the connected few, but to all of us.”
In Ballito, there will be a placard demonstration on Ballito Drive in front of the Virgin Active gym.
Cape Town forms human chain
Meanwhile Cape Town citizens are planning to sacrifice our lunch hour from 1 pm – 2 pm on Friday 7, step outside their buildings and places of work to form a human chain dressed in their company uniforms/Ttshirts or our Springbok Shirts!

Not only is this a huge effort of consolodarity and exactly what our country needs as a nation, it is also an excellent oppertunity to promote your company on social media! Take photos and post on social media!
“This is not the Nation vs the ANC, this is a Nation vs Zuma!” is the message.

Corruption Watch, in this week of multiple calls for action in response to recent cabinet shifts as well as the ratings downgrade, urges the public to join the march from the treasury building on Church Square to the Union Buildings on Friday, 7 April 2017.
South Africa is facing an unprecedented political, economic and social crisis, and the common denominator which threatens to tear the country apart is corruption.
David Lewis, executive director of Corruption Watch, commented: “We don’t enter the political terrain lightly. However, we face a political, economic and social crisis of an unprecedented scale and depth. “
Corruption Watch calls upon the public to join forces with the civil society initiative to take a stand against the unravelling of our society and to demand that President Zuma step down or be removed from office.
Participants will march from Church Square to the Union Buildings to deliver a strong message of no confidence.
ANC YL march against ABSA
The ANC Youth League in KZN will be conducting its own march on Friday, in the Durban city centre.
The league is continuing its call for ABSA to pay back money allegedly owed to the people of South Africa.
ANC Youth League provincial spokesperson, Mandla Shange, said the march will be attended by NEC member, and Police Minister Fikile Mbalula.
Peaceful march
It is everyone’s democratic right to protest.
Police will be out in numbers to monitor the marches tomorrow according to KZN police spokesman, Lt/col Thulani Zwane, who appealed to people for public order and a peaceful march.
