New Germany woman hijacked and raped

The suspects forced the woman into the back seat of her car, where they took turns assaulting her.

A NEW Germany woman was hijacked and raped by two men during a horrific two-hour ordeal on Saturday afternoon.

According to Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, the 37-year old-victim was leaving her house to buy medicine for her husband when she was accosted by two men, one armed with a gun.

“One jumped in the front passenger seat and the other in the back seat. She drove the vehicle for a short distance and was ordered to stop the car and move to the back seat.”

“One of the men drove the woman’s car, while the other man in the back seat raped her. When he was done, the driver stopped the car and went into the back and the other man drove the vehicle. The second suspect also raped her,” said Manqele.

The man stopped the car in a dark spot in the Wentworth area and asked the woman if the car is fitted with a tracking device and she said no.

“They also asked for the pin numbers of her bank cards which she gave them. They dropped her off near a garage in Wentworth and she phoned her husband who hired a cab to go to Wentworth.

“Wentworth police arrived and the victim and her husband were transported by ambulance to Addington Hospital,” said Manqele.

A case of carjacking and rape was opened in Pinetown and no arrests have been made.

There has been a spike in the number of hijackings in the New Germany area since the beginning of this year. In one incident, which happened late January, a man was shot in the leg and abdomen during a hijacking at the corner of Pioneer and Janine Roads.

Also in January, the Highway Mail reported on two more incidents in New Germany where a couple’s silver Peugeot stolen. The car was then seen on social media being used to hijack two other vehicles. The second hijacking unfolded at the corner of Umdoni and Harborth Roads just minutes later after the Peugeot was hijacked.

Two armed suspects targeted a woman and her three-year-old son.
