Kevin was crowned World Champion in 2015 but said he wanted to work towards another goal.

“Having both titles now has been incredible for me and the country. It is truly an honour,” said Kevin who exudes energy, charm and joie de vie.

However, his passion for line dancing doesn’t stop here, he has big plans to compete in the Irish Champs in June, the Scottish Champs, the Australian Champs and the World Champs in Blackpool on 11 August.

“Line dancing is not what people think it is. It’s not barn-dancing. It gives me a lease on life at my age (54) to still dance and be healthy and travel the world, which is another passion of mine,” said Kevin.

This weekend, Kevin plans to show off his enviable dance skills once more at the Johannesburg championships but his ulterior motive for competing in this event is to have a private lesson with Shame Mckeevar, who holds 18 World Champion titles, is a qualified judge and dance instructor, before the event.

He also thanked his stylist, Gareth Greaves and trainer, Serena Rajkumar of Solo Rhythms.

Other prominent titles Kevin has earned are the former South African singles freestyle dance champ and ‘aerobics snackers’ South African champion.

He worked at the world famous Moulin Rouge in Paris and also received the Heroes Award Rotary Certificate for bravery and workmanship aboard the Oceana cruise ship where Kevin and his team saved 690 people.

His ultimate goal is to be an All Stars Champion, which he believes is not at all unobtainable as he is not afraid of showcasing his skills and releasing that extra bit of sexy and zest transforming mere steps into masterpieces of movement.
