A RETAIL store in Malvern had their hands full from Friday, 10 to Sunday, 12 March when they were confronted by a number of shoplifters.
Malvern SAPS communications officer, W/O Radhika Marimuthu said in one incident, a woman shopped for a substantial amount of items exceeding R8 000.
“She then wheeled the trolley out and was stopped by the vigilant security guards.”
Marimuthu said the woman’s explanation was that she was looking for her partner to pay for the goods. In other incidents, the alert security personnel stopped the suspects, searched them and found stolen and unpaid goods on them. Acting station Commander, Capt Mano Govender, said the store security should be commended for their precise eye in sussing out the suspects which led to the multiple arrests.
“This is the vigilance required to curb crime at the most basic level.” said Govender.
