Course will Improve gardeners’ skills

Booking and advance payment is essential.

WESTVILLE Conservancy will hold an intensive half-day training course to assist and uplift your gardener’s skills base at the Palmiet Nature Reserve on Wednesday, 22 March from 8am to 1pm.

The course will provide a brief overview of the importance of the natural environment (your garden) and the need to prevent the invasive alien plants establishing themselves in it and cover the identification of the most common alien plants in Westville and their eradication.

“It is aimed at educating your gardener and providing him/her with the skills to ensure that your garden complies to some extent with the Alien Plant Control Regulations. It will assist in making your garden a greater asset to your property,” said Patty Mankowski of the Westville Conservancy.

Entrance to the reserve is at the end of Old New Germany Road in Westville.

The cost is R70 per delegate, per half-day. Tea will be provided but gardeners should take along their own lunch. For bookings, contact Patty Mankowski on 079 181 5274, email: mankowski@absamail.co.za or contact Jean Senogles on 084 584 3330, email: jeansenogles@gmail.com
