Magical murals make learning fun
Local artist, Cassy Healey, has put her creative touch on another ECD school in the Highway area.
THE children in the lower Molweni area were in for a treat at the recent opening of the St Agnes’s new early childhood development (ECD) centre, Philangathemba.
The centre runs ECD training for parents and caregivers. Cassy Healey, an ECD practitioner who painted the murals said she was delighted to have been part of the project.
“I already created a special tactile, interactive mural which proved really popular with both children and adults alike, so it was a real pleasure to be asked to paint murals for both inside and out of the new training building.”
Teacher Luyanda Sikhakhane, said she was thrilled with the outcome.
“The murals have created such a vibrant and happy atmosphere and can actually be used in the training as well. For example counting the fruit on the tree or finding different colours and shapes,” she said.
