Scores injured in M7 accidents

Rescue Care paramedics were kept busy on the M7 this morning.

SCORES of people sustained injuries this morning in multiple collisions on the M7.

Rescue Care Paramedics responded to a collision on the M7 east-bound before Bellville Bridge involving three cars just after 6am this morning. Four people suffered minor to moderate injuries..

“As emergency services left the scene, a secondary collision occurred in the backlog involving 11 cars. Eleven people were injured and multiple ambulances were dispatched to assist at the scene. All of the injured were treated on scene by Rescue Care,” said advanced life support paramedic, Ceron Lennox.

Just after 8am, paramedics were called to the M7 west-bound near Winston Churchill offramp. “A single vehicle lost control and rolled, coming to rest on its roof. One patient was injured. Around 8:45am again, Rescue Care Paramedics were called to the M7 east-bound before Bellville. A truck and two cars were involved in a collision. One person suffered slight injuries and while paramedics were attending to the injured another collision occurred in the backlog. The two occupants were treated at the scene,” she said.

All of the injured were taken to nearby hospitals. Lexnnox said the cause of the collision is unknown, however SAPS will be investigating.
