8 Children injured in taxi accident

The driver of the taxi was apparently not found at the scene.

EIGHT children were injured yesterday afternoon when the taxi they were travelling in overturned and rolled down an embankment on Fischer Road near Hillcrest. Paramedics found the taxi lying on its roof at the bottom of a small embankment and several children were walking around at the scene.

ER24 spokesman, Russel Meiring said no serious injuries were reported.

“Eight children sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. They were treated at the scene and transported to St Mary’s Hospital,” he said.

According to Meiring, the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle causing it to overturn.

“The driver of the taxi was apparently not found at the scene,” said Meiring.
