US children raise R31 500 for SA orphans

Three American children whose parents are from South Africa helped create awareness about the plight of orphaned and vulnerable children in South Africa.

THREE American children who live in a beautiful town called Rye in New York, planned a South African Day at their home to raise funds for a non-profit organisation in Clermont.

The children – Jessica Foster, (13), Kate Foster (10) and Christian Foster (6) of proud parents, Soldi from Pietermaritzburg and Bradley, a local lad from New Germany, came up with the idea to create awareness about the plight of orphaned and vulnerable children in South Africa.

Their dad attended Lyndhurst Primary School and then Pinetown Boys’ High School.

World Orphans’ Day was fast approaching with ‘Thanksgiving Day’ shortly thereafter.

Together with their mom, the children decided to raise funds for St Clements Home Based Care in Clermont, Durban.

They sent out invitations for a party at their house and asked the attendees to think of orphans and vulnerable children around the world while being thankful for their own parents who love and take care of them.

They prepared for days and had such fun getting ready. They researched information and made posters.
