Cody Chetty was born in Chatsworth in the city of Durban. Currently aged 25 and an established member of the Hollywoodbets dolphins team, Cody gives credit to his family for introducing him to cricket.
“My two older brothers and my father were my biggest influences in cricket”, remembers Cody. Cody went to Belvedere primary school but he gained strong passion for the sport at the age of 8 while playing for a local team called Chatsworth Sporting Cricket Club. From Chatsworth Sporting Cricket Club, Cody went on to play for the Natal under 13 team with current Dolphins player Khaya Zondo being part of that team.
Well-spoken and articulate, Cody also attended Glenwood high school. The year 2010 saw Cody take a step up in his career by playing for the SA under 19 team, at the world cup in New Zealand.” I have very fond memories of that world cup, we lost in the quarterfinals against Sri Lanka, but shortly after that I got a professional contract to play for the Dolphins” discloses Cody.
In his spare time, this prolific middle order batsman plays soccer and golf as a past time. He also has a deep appreciation of music with rhythm and blues(R&B) being his favourite music genre.” The sport of cricket comes with some stress when you are not doing so well, so music, friends, family and other hobbies help me to relax and stay focused” emphasises Cody.
Having spent many years at the Dolphins, Cody remains very committed to the franchise, ”Dolphins gave me a chance and I want to repay them for their faith in me, hopefully that can translate into a good chance of me playing for the Proteas A team, I’m still fairly young, so my ambition will come true” concludes Cody.
