MADFIN – The day Shimano music rang loud and clear

As we got to backline I saw birds diving and sprats being smashed and with all the excitement, I paddled fast towards them to get my bait in amongst them.

Thank you for your all your stories and what was amazing is that we had just short of 10 000 hits online. This shows that sport angling is alive and well in the Highway area.

In life you will always get those that agree and those that don’t, but Jesus Christ went fishing with his disciples and bonds were built while fishing. His closest followers were fisherman. I

have memories of fishing with my Dad that I cherish and will hang onto for life.

Quinten Rodway from Kloof shares his story, “Yellowfin off Beachwood”.

Yip, you read the subject line correctly… Yellowfin off Beachwood.

Myself and a few mates headed out to see what was hanging around Virginia barge… got some bait and alas, no pulls.

We eventually made our way back to the backline going to pull for a snoek.

I checked my two live bait which were swimming strong.

As we got to backline I saw birds diving and sprats being smashed and with all the excitement, I paddled fast towards them to get my bait in among them.

I stopped briefly to make sure they had not tangled or twisted from the hard paddle, and bam ! my real started screaming. I tightened up and Shimano music was ringing…

It took a while to bring in as I had hooked up using a light trawling rod.

Eventually after a slug, I sunk the gaff and boated a 24kg yellowfin, just shy of 2kg’s being my PB of 26kg.

Sometimes we don’t need to run as far as Salmon Bay? #fluke

Always remember to restrict you catch and leave only your foot print. Educate your fellow anglers by what you do and there will be fishing for generation to come.

Fight against the abuse of our oceans.
