Enough is enough – Westville residents are tired of living in fear

Deputy mayor, Fawzia Peer called an urgent meeting in Westville to discuss the spike of violent crime in the area.

HUNDREDS of Westville residents, tired of living in a fear, made their way to the Truro Hall last night, to listen to deputy mayor, Fawzia Peer address the crime issue in Westville and help find solutions.

She urged the angry residents to not shift the blame or pass the buck but instead for all to be extra vigilant and to work hand in hand with the police to achieve a common goal.

Peer also explained that CCTV cameras from the municipality will be erected in the Westville area and residents will decide on the location. She also urged residents to report all public realm issues such as street lights not working, missing road signs and refuse not picked up, which attracts criminal elements.

Guy Boardman, driver of the Special Rates Area (SRA) committee, passed a memorandum to the deputy mayor with the residents’ grievances.

Westville CPF chairman, Mike Myers, also addressed the meeting expressing the need for more policemen at the Westville station.
