Sewage leak causes a stink in Pinetown
The leak has been reported numerous times and nothing has been done to fix the problem.
PINETOWN resident, Cynthia Daye said they have had to endure a horrible stink coming out of the squash court in Lahee Park and she has ran out of options as she has tried numerous times to have it fixed.
Cynthia who contacted the Highway Mail said her mother has sent text messages to the Ethekwini sms help line on 14, 17, 23 and 28 December and has had no reply at all.
“I sent a WhatsApp on 24 December stating the problem and location, I received a reply on 25 December asking for the full address including house number and road name to which I replied that within Lahee Park there are no road names and house numbers.
“I received a reply on 26 December asking for my name, contact number, a full address for the location of the fault, or alternatively directions and landmarks if it is a rural location. I replied with my name, address and a detailed description of where the fault is, including that it is on the side of the squash courts closest to the complexes and that they had attended to leaks in exactly the same place in the past,” explained Daye.
She said she then another sms on 28 December stating that the fault had been repaired.
“I sent a WhatsApp on the same day stating that the problem had in fact not been fixed and requesting that someone come to fix the problem and clean up as the place stinks. I received a reply on the same day stating that the fault number I was referring to had in fact been repaired and I must give the address again so that they can re-capture the fault. I replied with the location of the problem and have to date not heard another word.”
Daye said she has tried phoning the contact number but all she receives is an automated voice saying that they are experiencing high call volumes and that you can leave a voice message.
“I have done so and not heard back. I don’t know what else to do,” said frustrated Daye.
