Men caught stealing from recycling bin

Two men from a paper recycling company were caught stealing paper from a recycling bin outside Honeybee Pre School and Aftercare.

TWO men were caught stealing paper from a Mondi recycling bin outside Honeybee Pre School and Aftercare in Ashley on Saturday, 7 January.

“We got a call from one of the residents informing us that these two men had pushed the bin over and took the paper from the inside,” said owner, Keith Snyman.

He said the resident took photos while the van, which had the business’ contact details on it, was still on the premises. Snyman phoned the Phoenix-based recycling company to inform them of the alleged theft.

“By the time we got to the school they had already left. The place was a mess. We then phoned the company and the manager was shocked to hear what had happened,” he said.

The men together with their manager returned to the school. One of the men tried to run away but was apprehended by security.

“The manager opened a case against the two men. We also called Mondi and told them what had happened, they may also be taking legal action.”

Highway Mail is waiting for comment from police and Mondi.
