Recruits boost police presence in Westville

A GROUP of 14 new constables have been deployed to Westville SAPS for the festive season.

According to Capt Elizabeth Squires, communications officer at Westville SAPS, the concentration was on the local malls to show force and visibility.

“For the festive season, together with support (admin), detectives and Vispol members, the area was well policed. A lot of vehicle check points and stop and search operations were held in sporadic areas of Westville. High visibility of police was the order of the day especially in our bumper packed malls,” said Squires.

She confirmed the operations were a success with a few road traffic fines issued.
