BREAKING: Shots fired at Hillcrest mall

AN armed suspect was shot in a shootout during an alleged attempted cash in transit heist, at the Hillcrest Corner shopping centre earlier today.

According to a source, armed men attempted to rob an SBV carrier near the banking hall at the shopping centre. Shots were fired during the cash-in-transit heist and one of the armed robbers was hit and escaped empty handed on foot.

The SAPS are in pursuit. There have been no other reported injuries.

Centre management was unable to comment as they did not have “all of the facts and figures” but said a comment would be posted on the mall’s Facebook page later today regarding the incident.
