No bail bid for child porn accused

Three men were arrested recently for the possession and dissemination of child pornography.

ONE of the three men who was arrested for child pornography recently, declined his bid for bail at the Durban Regional Court on Wednesday.

The man, whose identity can not be disclosed until he pleads in court, was arrested with his co-accused Gavin Faustmann from Pinetown and Jacques Rheeder from Waterfall. The arrests were made during a joint operation between the SAPS Head Office in Gauteng, the KwaZulu-Natal Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Units and the Pretoria based members of the US Homeland Security on Tuesday, 29 November.

The trio, who are aged between 29 and 47 years old, were arrested in their areas of residence.

Faustmann and Rhedeer were charged with the possession and dissemination of child pornography, while the third man was charged with child pornography, the rape of a minor and sexual assault. The minor he is accused of raping is alleged to be a six-year-old child.
