Stolen car recovered in Umlazi

An active tracker signal from a stolen car led the police to a panel beater's property in Umlazi.

THE Malvern Visible Policing Unit, together with the National Intervention Unit recently recovered a stolen car in Umlazi.

According to the corporate communications officer, W/O Radhika Marimuthu, Head Capt Mano Govender, W/O Trevor Raghunandhan, Cst Sudashen Moodley and Cst Protas Sibiya conducted a joint operation after they received an active tracker signal from a stolen car. They tracked the signal to a premises in M Section Umlazi.

“The premises belonged to a panel beater. A suspect was found with the vehicle keys on him. The man was arrested and charged for being in possession of stolen property. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was hijacked in the Bayview area,” she said.

Station commander, Lt-Col Valarine Reddy, commended the officers on the arrest and recovery of the stolen car.
