ESKOM has confirmed that there will be no load shedding this festive season, despite the increase of electricity usage during the holiday celebrations.
In a statement yesterday the parastatal’s Media Desk said, “Our projections are that there will be no load shedding, not just during the festive season, but beyond.”
This prediction, it said, was based on Eskom’s focused maintenance programme.
Due to improved operational performance, @Eskom_SA has not implemented load-shedding since August 2015.

Eskom said it managed to optimise its maintenance by introducing a new tool called Tetris, that ‘visually demonstrates balance between supply and demand’.
“Operational performance improvements are the main contributing factors for the positive outlook. With many industries also closing and residential customers going on holiday during the festive season, there will not be an increase in electricity usage.”
However, Eskom still urged its customers to use electricity sparingly ‘to ensure the reliability of power supply’.
Why are we not recognizing what Brian Molefe did for Eskom. We did not have load shedding this year… Remember what happened to Mbeki?
