Bus crashes into three bakkies in Pinetown

13 people were injured and one man was found trapped in a bakkie.

THIRTEEN people were injured this morning when a bus collided with three bakkies on the M7 West bound near the Hans Dettman off-ramp in Pinetown

ER24 spokesman, Russel Meiring said, paramedics found the bus and one of the bakkies in the right-hand lane of the road while two other bakkies were found parked in the centre medium.

He said several people were found walking around at the scene.

“Upon closer inspection, paramedics discovered that 13 people from the three bakkies sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate and one man was trapped inside one of the vehicles. Paramedics extricated the man from the vehicle and treated all the patients for their injuries. The injured were transported to St Augustine’s Hospital and no one from the bus was injured,” said Meiring.

According to Meiring, it is believed the driver of the bus allegedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to rear-end the three bakkies.
