Sunflower Montessori wins burger party

The competition required participants to do something creative with their Topes, upload them to The Sunflower Fund’s Facebook Page, and get as many people ‘liking’ the entries.

TODDLERS at Sunflower Montessori in Hillary were recently treated to burger bust party by Red Oak Spur, courtesy of the Sunflower Fund. All twenty-eight children at the crèche were entered into the Sunflower Fund’s schools competition which were open to all schools country-wide.

“We participated in the Sunflower Fund’s Sunflower Day school’s competition held in September. We had to come up with the most creative way to use the sunflower Tope or bandana. Sunflower Montessori came out in the top 10 schools and our reward was a Spur burger bust party,” said Isai Pillay.

The competition required participants to do something creative with their Topes, upload them to The Sunflower Fund’s Facebook Page, and get as many people ‘liking’ the entries. The first prize was to the value of R20 000 to the school that showed the greatest Sunflower spirit on Sunflower Day, while runner ups also had a chance to win awesome prizes.

“The kids were really excited that they won, especially when we told them about the prize, that it was a treat from Spur. To the Sunflower Fund organisers of the school competition, and to Marcus Zama and his team from The Red Oak Spur in Malvern, the children and staff of Sunflower Montessori would like to say a big thank you for giving our kids such an awesome and amazing day,” Pillay said.

Manager at Red Oak Spur, Marcus Zama, said that they were pleased to sponsor the initiative. “The prize was Sponsored by the Spur Foundation where we recognise schools doing well and we sponsor them with a burger bust party. It is our way of giving back to the community that supports us. We enjoyed our day with the children and they were delighted to see and play with the Spur Bird,” he said.
