13 school children hurt in taxi crash

The children suffered minor injuries.

THIRTEEN children were injured when a school taxi and a car collided at the corner of Old Main Road and Cheriton Drive in Pinetown, just after 2pm on Friday, 25 November.

According to Garrith Jamieson, operations director at Rescue Care, paramedics arrived at the scene and found that the two vehicles had collided, before the taxi veered off the road and crashed into the sidewalk.

“Thirteen children, mostly primary school children of different ages suffered minor injuries. More ambulances were called to assist with the number of children who were injured. Once all of the injured had been stabilised, they were transported to various hospitals,” said Jamieson.

The SAPS were at the scene and will investigate the cause of the collision.
