Where to hike on Sunday, 4 December.

Palmiet Nature Reserve

The Palmiet Nature Reserve trail will be led by birding expert Mike Roseblade on Sunday, 4 December. As Mike believes that ‘the early bird catches the worm’, trailists should meet at 7am at the entrance to the reserve in Old New Germany Road, Westville.

Everyone is welcome, there is no charge, but donations for the reserve upkeep are welcomed. Contact Warren on 031 262 2935.

Amblers Hiking Club

Hike Mpiti Falls, Kloof picnic site, Krantzview Nature Reserve, Kloof Falls Road, Kloof on Sunday, 4 December at 2pm. Reserve entrance fee is R30 each. Contact Lawson on 031 459 0576.

Durban Ramblers Hiking Club

Hike Rocky Bay (Park Rynie) on Sunday, 4 December. This is a new hike, recently cancelled due to bad weather. Terrain is easy and mainly through sugarcane and fairly exposed. Hat and water essential and binos in case you are lucky enough to spot a whale. If the weather is good, carry your costumes to swim after the hike or have drinks in the pub. Meet at 7.30am in road at Glenwood Village, 397 Che Guevara (Moore) Road or Rocky Bay Resort in time to start hiking at 8.30am. Petrol sharing, R45. Entrance fee is R20, grade 2/ ±19km.
