Gang rapes increase in Pinetown

Police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

PINETOWN Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is appealing to people for information that could help them solve rape cases.

Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, said there has been an increase in rape cases between October and November and all incidents occurred in the Pinetown area.

“In all the cases, victims were befriended by a suspect and the victim would be threatened with a knife and forced to the bushes between Lahee Park and View Road and raped.”

Manqele said two other suspects would come into the bush and gang rape the victim.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the rapists to contact Det/Capt Chris

Ngcobo on 031 325 5002 or 082 556 8981.
