Support Sunfield Home with calendar purchase

The slimline calendars are available for purchase now.

AS a fundraising project, the Friends of Sunfield Durban has launched its slimline calendar for 2017 for R45 per copy. The funds raised through the sale of the calendars will benefit the 110 intellectually impaired adult residents who live at Sunfield Home in Howick.

“The home is non-racial, and it aims to provide a secure and home-like environment. Each resident is given appropriate daily projects and are also involved in occupational and recreational activities to enhance their lifelong well being,” said Claudette Marchussen, chairman of Friends of Sunfield Durban.

“Frail care becomes necessary and with our caring environment this has made us a leading organisation in our field,” said Claudette. The home also celebrated its 60th birthday last year.

It has two outreach programmes in the local community. Angels Care supports underprivileged children and Sunfield provides a monthly contribution to assist with the purchase of food, blankets, toiletries and other necessities.

“The home also runs a course which teaches students to care for the sick, intellectually impaired and the aged,” said Claudette.

The course started in June 2002 and is well supported and has a long waiting list of future students. A few of the students who pass through the programme have since been employed by the home.

The slim line calendars make wonderful and inexpensive gifts and fit easily into any home.
