One dead, seven injured in Pinetown crash

ONE person was killed while seven others were injured in a collision this morning.

Netcare 911 paramedics responded to the scene at the intersection of Old Richmond Road and Milky Way in Pinetown.

According to Chris Botha, Netcare 911 media liaison officer, reports from the scene indicated that the bus sideswiped a BMW before colliding into the side of a Bantam bakkie.

“When paramedics arrived at the scene, they found a man who was seated at the back of the bakkie had been thrown off and tragically died at the scene. Seven other people sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor. Paramedics treated them and then transported them to various hospitals,”  said Botha.

SAPS are investigating the cause of the crash.
