Five men arrested for Embo murder

The man was returning home with his friend when he was stabbed by an unknown man.

FIVE men were arrested on Thursday, 27 October by Hillcrest detectives for a murder which took place on Saturday, 1 October in Embo.

Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, Cst Ndumiso Manqele said, the deceased, Sphamandla Hlabisa (25) was returning from a tavern with his friend.

“When the men were near their house, they were approached by an unknown man who asked them for a lighter and the deceased gave him a cigarette. The friend of the deceased heard the victim screaming for help. When he went to him, he found that the deceased was stabbed in the chest by the same man who requested the lighter,” said Manqele.

The Hillcrest SAPS attended the scene and a case of murder was opened for further investigations.

The suspects will be charged and will appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court soon.

The Acting Station Commander of Hillcrest, Lt/ColGD Joseph commended the good work that was done by the detective branch in making sure the criminals were brought to book.
