Wanted thief arrested in Pinetown

The robber was arrested by an ADT armed response officer recently.

THE Pinetown police arrested a wanted man, believed to be linked to several burglaries, thanks to a local security company’s rapid response, recently.

On Sunday, 23 October, the ADT security monitoring centre received an alarm signal from a business premises in Greathead Lane. An armed response officer was immediately dispatched. The response officer, Christopher Madolo, arrived at the property within minutes.

While conducting a perimeter check, Madolo noticed the burglar near a store room on the premises. He was apprehended and placed under arrest by members of the Pinetown South African Police Services. Various items of stolen linen were recovered from the robber.

An investigation revealed that the burglar jumped over the palisade fencing and entered the property via an unlocked door. When he opened the door the alarm was triggered.

Ivan Govender, the district manager of ADT Security KwaZulu-Natal, praised Madolo for his swift response and bravery. “I am proud of Madolo’s quick response which ensured that another criminal has now been placed behind bars.”

Govender advised residents and business owners alike, to ensure that alarms are always armed and to regularly check their perimeter fencing and ensure that windows and doors are properly closed and secured.
