Locals urge Kloof drivers to slow down

According to the residents along Bridle Road in Kloof, the area has become an accident magnet due to ignored road rules.

THE local community in Kloof has urged drivers to abide by the rules of the road as there have been numerous accidents along Bridle Road.

According to Craig Perry, a patroller for the Forest Hills 1 Community Watch, the intersection of Sherwood Drive and Bridle Road has become a cause for concern.

“In the last few months, we had accidents near the intersection at least every two weeks,” said Perry. The latest accident was on Saturday, 22 October when a car crashed into an eThekwini Municipality vehicle.

“Commuters either overtake along the solid white line along Bridle Road, they are speeding and there are also heavy duty trucks that exceed the seven-ton limit. It has become quite a busy area with the opening of the new mall and the growing industrial complexes. We have residents who run in the area and others who walk their dogs and it has become quite dangerous.

“In some cases we, the community watch, are called in to assist with directing traffic when the accidents are bad. We just want people to abide by the rules of the road and to be courteous,” said Perry.
