Cyclists gear up for good ‘paws’

Support the cyclists taking part in the daring one-day, 275km challenge for the Kloof and Highway SPCA.

A GROUP of cycling enthusiasts will be ride from Suncoast Casino to the top of Sani Pass on Saturday, 29 October in a gruelling effort to help raise funds for the Kloof and Highway SPCA’s outreach programme.

The aim of the local non-profit organisation’s outreach clinic is to reach the most rural and disadvantaged communities in its surrounds, where access to basic animal healthcare is almost non-existent. “The clinic helps to educate people on the care of their animals, sterilise, vaccinate, deworm as well as provide basic animal health care to animals in need,” said Lisa Mörck, the public relations and outreach officer at the Kloof and Highway SPCA.

The cycling team will be headed by the organisation’s Sarah van Heerden and Mark Caroll of the Cadence Cycling Performance Centre. They encouraged all animal lovers and sporting enthusiasts to support them and fellow riders by making a donation to the Kloof and Highway SPCA’s outreach clinics. “Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference in the lives of animals cared for by us,” said Lisa.
