TAFTA’s trail run promotes healthy living

Tafta's Trail Run is the perfect event for first time walkers and runners.

TAFTA’S Trail Run is back and promises to be bigger and better. After an incredibly successful event last year – supported by the local community, corporates and spirited trail runners, TAFTA’s Trail Run with a difference, hopes to inspire individuals and families to lead healthier lives and to further encourage the community to play an active role in caring for the vulnerable elderly pensioners in communities.

“This is an opportunity for trail runners and walkers including the broader public to come together as a community to support TAFTA’s fundraising initiative and for the public to share our passion in helping to put a smile on the faces of elderly pensioners in our care. The drive is dedicated to raising funds for TAFTA’s pensioners in providing a three course meal which will be distributed to pensioners during the festive period,” explained events administrator, Ateesha Rampersad.

TAFTA’s Chief Executive Officer, Margie Smith said, “We are delighted to launch our trail run in support of our festive meal drive. Last year, through the support of Durban’s generous community we provided festive meals and cheer boxes to our residents – for this we were grateful and thankful. I appeal once more to our Durban community and urge you to join us on the field to help make a difference by registering for our 2016 trail run. The event provides an opportunity for families and active people both young and old to share trail tale experiences with friends, while significantly impacting on the lives of our residents.”

The event promotes fitness in a family environment and encourages individuals to reach new heights. It is the perfect event for first time walkers and runners. The trail run and walk will be held on Sunday, 20 November. The start hooter will sound at Virginia Bush Nature Reserve at 7am, to kick off the 4km and 8km trail run and walk.
