A 37-YEAR-OLD man was convicted and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment by the Camperdown Magistrate’s Court for raping his 11-year-old daughter.
On 25 December 2013 at about 11pm, the accused took his daughter from her mother’s house in KwaNyuswa and went to his parents’ house, in the same area, where he raped her.
“The victim reported the matter to her aunt and a case of rape was opened at Inchanga police station and the docket was assigned to Pinetown Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for further investigation.
“Five days later the accused was arrested and charged for rape,” said Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele.
The accused appeared in court several times and was finally convicted and sentenced for rape.
