Rains flood Hill Street

Rains have caused flooding in parts of Pinetown, especially in the Hill Street area.

THE weekend rainfall has left some parts of Pinetown flooded causing difficulties for vehicles attempting to gain entry to taxi ranks and shops in Hill Street.

The Highway Mail spoke to some business owners and vendors in Hill Street who have been affected by the flooding.

Louiz Pereira, Roots Butchery owner said this was not the first time that Hill Street had flooded after rains.

“This was not even heavy rains, what will happen when heavy rains the heavy rains come?”

He said it had a negative impact on their businesses as customers could not gain entry to shops and vendors could not set up their stalls as the water had caused a dam.

There have been reports of several accidents around the Highway area and motorists are urged to drive cautiously on the wet roads.
