RIDLEY Bowling Club recently honoured two of its members who both joined the club, the 70s with an Honorary Life Membership Award.
“I joined Ridley Park Bowling Club in 1975. I was welcomed with open arms then as it still is now. I am extremely happy to have received this award. I was not expecting it,” said award recipient, Nelson Cele.
The second recipient was Dora Smith who joined the club in the early 1970’s. She relocated, joined another club and then returned to Ridley Park a few years ago when they moved back into the area. “I simply had to come home,” she said. In addition, Smith has been very involved in the club and was the Ladies’ Competition Secretary for four years. “I am amazed to have received this award. It was a lovely surprise,” she said.
