Pinetown meter taxi operator found dead

Ndlovu's family found his body a week after a desperate search.

A PINETOWN meter taxi operator, Fanelesibonge Ndlovu (21) who went missing on Saturday, 3 September was found dead in KwaNdengezi.

KwaNdengezi SAPS communications officer, W/O Gesi Sibiya said Ndlovu’s body was found at the edge of the road next to a bush in Milkway Road.

Sibiya denied the story which has been in the newspapers and social media that stated Ndlovu’s was run over several times by his killers.

According to Sibiya, Ndlovu’s body was found by a passerby. “He was only wearing his underpants and he was not cuffed. There were marks on his body to show that he was dragged to the edge of the road and not run over.

Sibiya said his family filed a missing person’s report at Pinetown SAPS on Sunday, 4 September when he did not return home on Saturday night.

“His family only recovered the body on Friday afternoon, 9 September after a desperate search.”

He said his car, a Toyota Yaris which he was using as a meter taxi was found in Underberg.

“A family friend who is a truck driver saw a car which fitted the description of Ndlovu’s car at a panel beater in Underberg and called the family,” said Sibiya.

A man was arrested in Underberg and appeared in the Underberg Court. He will be brought to Pinetown where a case of kidnapping has been opened.

A case of murder was also opened by KwaNdengezi police.
