WE all have had that fuzzy feeling when you see someone you know doing great things, be it someone from your school, church, neighbourhood or someone you just know you have crossed paths with.
Here are a few familiar faces who have had their names in the spotlight and have broken some records.
Kevin Paul
Cowies Hill resident, Kevin Paul won the first gold medal for South Africa at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Thursday for the Men’s 100m Breaststroke.
Pearl Thusi
Actor, presenter and model, Pearl Thusi was born and raised in Hammarsdale. She will be seen in the new season of American drama, Quantico. She even has a song about her.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo was formed in 1960 by Joseph Shabalala who lives in Kloof. Mambazo is a South African male choral group that sings in the vocal styles of isicathamiya and mbube. They rose to worldwide prominence as a result of singing with Paul Simon on his 1986 album Graceland, and have won multiple awards, including four Grammy Awards.
